Quilt Care
Washing
Best method: Gentle machine wash on cold, using a mild detergent.
Load size: Wash your quilt separately to avoid excess stress on the fabric.
Cycle: Delicate cycle is best.
Avoid: Bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh detergents, which can break down fibers.
Drying
Preferred: Line dry whenever possible.
Alternative: Tumble dry on low heat. Adding a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls can help keep the batting evenly distributed.
Tip: Remove promptly to prevent wrinkles.
Everyday Care
Quilts are meant to be used — on beds, couches, or wrapped around shoulders.
Rotate your quilt occasionally so wear distributes evenly.
If storing, fold loosely in a breathable cotton bag or pillowcase. Avoid plastic bins, which can trap moisture.
Repair & Longevity
Over time, a well-loved quilt may show signs of use. Hand-stitched repairs can add to its story and character. If your quilt ever needs repair, contact me — I’m always happy to advise on care or mending.
A Note from Katie
Every quilt I make is designed to be a companion in your home, not something too precious to use. The more you love it, the more it becomes a part of your life’s stories.
