This quilt is a custom design for a friend in New York City. The fabrics are mostly Japanese cottons in brick, rust, and indigo, pieced improvisationally so no two blocks repeat. The palette came from her new neighborhood: brownstone, sidewalk, and the gray of a winter sky between buildings.
